SVA Photography Students Win Contest

Date: May 1, 2024

Two Advanced Photography students have received recognition for their entries in the Centerville Noon Optimist Club Photography Contest.

Ian Harvey, Freshman, Ms. Hollie Macomber, Photography Teacher, Hannah Largo, Junior.

Hannah Largo, Junior, won first place (and a $500 cash prize)

Ian Harvey, Freshman, won third place (and a $100 cash prize)

Their teacher, Hollie Macomber, attended the most recent meeting of the Centerville Noon Optimist Club with Hannah and Ian so they could receive their awards.

The contest was open to high school students within Centerville and Washington Township and required students to pick one of the ten tenets of “The Optimist’s Creed” and showcase that tenet in a photo.

Hannah’s first place photo exemplified the fourth tenet of the Creed. “To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.” Ian’s third place photo represented the eighth tenet: “To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.”

Congratulations to Hannah and Ian!
